Title: Bridging global divides: AI-driven collaborative platforms for holistic nursing in conflict-affected and remote regions

Abstract:

In an era where geopolitical tensions, climate crises, and pandemics exacerbate healthcare disparities, the concept of “Nursing Without Borders” demands transformative approaches that transcend traditional boundaries. This presentation explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) with international collaborative networks to deliver holistic nursing care in conflict-affected and remote regions, where access to skilled professionals is severely limited. Drawing on case studies from ongoing initiatives in Syria, Ukraine, and rural sub-Saharan Africa, we demonstrate how AI-powered platforms such as real-time diagnostic tools, predictive analytics for patient outcomes, and virtual reality simulations for cultural competency training enable nurses to collaborate seamlessly across continents. These innovations facilitate multidisciplinary partnerships involving nurses, physicians, mental health specialists, and local community healers, ensuring care that addresses physical, emotional, psychosocial, and spiritual needs. For instance, a pilot program in partnership with organizations like Médecins Sans Frontières and the World Health Organization utilized AI chatbots for language-agnostic patient triage, reducing response times by 40% while incorporating holistic elements like mindfulness integration for trauma survivors. Key challenges, including data privacy, ethical AI deployment, and equitable technology access, are critically examined, alongside strategies for sustainable implementation through open-source frameworks and capacity-building workshops. By fostering innovation and collaboration, this model not only enhances patient-centered outcomes but also empowers nurses as global advocates for health equity. Ultimately, this approach redefines nursing as a borderless profession, promoting resilience and wholeness in vulnerable populations. Attendees will gain actionable insights into adopting similar frameworks in their practice, paving the way for a more inclusive future in global healthcare.
