The use of cardiac equipment and heart monitoring is a skill that cardiac nurses possess. For instance, they are well familiar with artificial cardiac pacemakers, which assist in controlling heart activity. The use of a defibrillator to treat arrhythmia or restart a person's heartbeat after it has suddenly stopped is another skill a cardiac nurse is educated in.
