Cardiac Care Nurse

Hospitals and cardiology departments employ cardiac nurses who work under the supervision of cardiologists. They serve patients with cardiovascular health problems primarily, while having the extensive training and understanding of an RN. For instance, a patient who has experienced a heart attack or cardiac arrest will be treated by a cardiac nurse. The use of cardiac equipment and heart monitoring is a skill that cardiac nurses possess. For instance, they are well familiar with artificial cardiac pacemakers, which assist in controlling heart activity. The use of a defibrillator to treat arrhythmia or restart a person's heartbeat after it has suddenly stopped is another skill a cardiac nurse is educated in.
