Title: Strengthening the interpersonal capacity of today’s BSN students: The nursing interactive field

Abstract:

The Nursing interactive Field requires the “caring” aspect of nursing to be picked up by the patient. That means that the nurse has a caring energy that is communicated to the patient via the nurse’s interactive field. Today’s nursing students are heavily dependent upon AI and need assistance in face-to-face interactions and development of the caring energy  that exemplifies nursing. It’s been noted that young people who rely on AI have diminished critical thinking skills (Dellinger, 2025) as well as diminished interpersonal skills. The Interactive Field in Nursing is what Dumas (2010) termed as “interbrain synchrony”.  We work with students to develop their interpersonal capacity through our focus on communication skills in our psych/mental health class. We also focus on them working in teams and developing interpersonal skills thorough their teamwork.
