Peri anesthesia nursing is a subspecialty of nursing that focuses on providing care to patients who are experiencing or recovering from anesthesia. Peri anesthesia nursing is a specialization of nursing that comprises a broad spectrum of practice environments and skill sets. Nurses give intensive care to patients in the early phases of waking up from anesthesia and in the postoperative period until they are deemed stable enough to be transferred to other areas safely. Given the collaborative nature of their work with anesthetists and the fact that a large proportion of acute pain issues are surgery-related, pain management nurses are frequently referred to as peri anesthesia nurses.
