A studious inquiry, examination, investigation, or experimentation directed at the discovery and interpretation of facts, the modification of accepted theories or laws in light of new facts, or the practical applications of such new or amended theories or laws is referred to as research. Nursing research is a scientific process that evaluates and refines existing data and knowledge whilst generating new knowledge that improves clinical nursing practice both directly and indirectly. Nursing research is evidence-based research that is used to support nursing practices. It emphasises on the systematic study and evaluation of nursing problems or phenomena; developing innovative studies to improve nursing practise and patient care; initiating and evaluating change; and taking action to make newfound information effective in nursing. All aspects of nursing and midwifery are covered in Nursing Research and Practice.
